Nathaniel Dyer founded Blacktology on a single premise: the documented record of harm done to Black Americans is not a grievance to be processed. It is a case to be prosecuted. The receipts exist. The prosecution continues.
The Publication
Blacktology is not a blog. It is not a personal platform. It is an institution of record built to document systemic harm to Black communities through historical analysis, statistical evidence, public records and active civil rights litigation. The tagline is the frame: The study of Black institutional survival.
Each issue follows a disciplined editorial architecture: The Record, The Pattern, The Numbers, The Testimony, The Prediction and The Case. Primary records sit in load-bearing positions. Court filings, government data, archival documents, peer-reviewed scholarship, and credible reporting support the analysis. Every central claim must be traceable. Every central number must be reproducible. Every disputed fact must be identified as disputed.

Year One begins in July 2026 with twelve monthly issues running through June 2027. The editorial calendar moves from current events into historical context, not the other way around. Blacktology leads with what is happening now because the current record proves the pattern is not dead history. It is active policy.
The Case
On December 3, 2025, the Atlanta Board of Education voted unanimously to close 16 schools under its APS Forward 2040 plan. The closures were concentrated in predominantly Black Atlanta neighborhoods. The gap between a completed $22 million renovation of F.L. Stanton Elementary and its closure was roughly 14 months. Forty days after the closure vote, the same board approved a five-year charter extension for Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School. The same planning environment allocated $147 million to North Atlanta High.
The case is now pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia after removal from state court: Dyer v. Atlanta Independent School System, Case No. 1:26-cv-01284-MHC, before the Honorable Mark H. Cohen. The pleadings assert First and Fourteenth Amendment violations. The case number appears across Blacktology because the litigation is not a footnote. It is part of the record.
This is not the first time Black communities in Georgia built educational infrastructure and watched official power strip it away. Tunis Campbell built schools during Reconstruction. Blacktology documents the continuity between historical extraction and modern institutional decision-making. The litigation names the present act. The publication documents the pattern.
The Person
Dyer's work runs across journalism, graphic design, community organizing, and education advocacy. He founded KIDS FIRST!, served as Vice President of a school PTSA, and built a documented record of engagement with Atlanta Public Schools that predates the December 3 vote by years. He has seen how institutional decisions get made, how public participation gets managed, and how communities get informed after the relevant conversations have already happened.
His design background gives Blacktology its visual discipline. His advocacy record gives it procedural memory. His litigation posture gives it consequence. That combination is the infrastructure of the publication.
Blacktology is produced HTML-first. Its visual identity is built to read as an institution, not a diary. Its revenue model includes institutional archive licensing, a paid litigation magazine and a documentary series in development for streaming pitch. None of that changes the underlying purpose: build the record, prosecute the case, let the evidence carry the weight.
Dyer works from Atlanta. The city's history is not backdrop. It is material.
